Editor's note:
You might be thinking, how can an editor from an isolated island in the North Atlantic Ocean assist me?
Well that’s easy! I am the one you call when you would like to step away from your computer.
I will edit, organise and work on your magic. Meanwhile you can get some sleep, go for a walk, catch up with friends & family or do what ever you please.
I will work for you completely remotely and you can watch while I edit on your own computer,
(There are of course other ways but this is the coolest one), or we can do this together and I will just help you fall in love with your material again.
I am looking forward to hear from you, yours

Editor's note:
“we got the nomination for
The Best editing 2020 at the Edda awards.
I also worked on the script and producing the film.
What exactly did I do? (Except for the obvious).
Well, communication between talents is very important. And to make sure
that all of my crew was always up to date, I made an online document.
There I had a list of scenes, status where they were in post production and
links (YouTube links). In this case this was a documentary so the links were
mostly interviews. The video links included a non edited interviews with
timecode, suggested dialog version and a rough cut with added visuals and
music. There was a document with every scene, there everyone could add
their comments, brainstorm and let their light shine.
Above you can see a final edit of a scene and here below are two examples
of scenes / RoughCuts (no graded/sound mix) that I put together for the
google document”.
& what does this article say?
(Approximately).
Andri one of the directors points out
that movies like The Third Pole are often at times created in the editing room, so a lot of credit to Eva Lind Höskuldsdóttir
for the role of an editor, in this kind of movie, is often much bigger. Over 50 hours of footage so she had around 10 movies to choose from.
Editors note: “That’s a first, dancing on a empty air lane at Keflavik international airport in Iceland.
Only one plane went in the air that day.”

APAUSALYPSE
Apausalypse - a documentary film shot in Iceland in April 2020
during the height of the Corona Virus. Film makers Anni Ólafsdóttir
and Andri Snær Magnason went around Iceland and interviewed artists and philosophers to look for the higher meaning of this great pause:
The Apausalypse, when the world was suddenly on hold. When most stages for art were closed we used airports, runways, and highways as stages for dancers and performers.

Editor's note:
“The progress of delivering a final edit. The communication between the editor and
director can be an extremely creative and a fun progress. We send each other tons
of ideas of edits and brainstorm. And even though we had beautiful material the
landing of the edit can be a difficult one. In this case me and the director were not
aligned. So she had the final edit.
The videos below are edits that I made during the brainstorm.
Short moments, but love them!

Are you Icelandic?
Zineta, Ebru, Karolina, and Maria Victoria were born in four very different countries
and have very different reasons for how they came to live in Iceland.
Each of them has a unique story to tell, but what they all have in common is the fact of injustice and prejudice that all foreigners, especially foreign women, experience in Iceland.

Editors note:
“For this Tv series, I never really met my crew. Every week I got a hard drive
with new material. While they were busy shooting all day in another part of
the country I was editing in another.
The only time the director and crew could look at what I was doing was
when they got back from shooting. And sometimes that was very late.
So online communication was very important for us”.

In the middle of the night, they brought out the dynamite.
This historic event marks the birth of environmentalism in Iceland. Because on 25.august 1970 the Laxá farmers blew up dam in to save their valley. They had protested for years but were losing the battle and being chased off their land. When it came to court, 113 farmers stuck together and they all confessed.
The farmers won the court case.
For over 50 years now they have never revealed the secret of who actually pulled the trigger.

Dreamland got in the top 17 best documentaries in the world according to IDFA in 2009. At that time no other Icelandic film had been nominated and over 2000 films enter there yearly.
Dreamland is a film about a nation standing at cross-roads. Leading up to the country’s greatest economic crisis, the government started the largest mega project in the history of Iceland, to build the biggest dam in Europe to provide Alcoa cheap electricity for an aluminium smelter in the rugged east fjords of Iceland. Today Iceland is left holding a huge dept and an uncertain future.
In Dreamland a nation with abundance of choices gradually becomes caught up in a plan to turn its wilderness and beautiful nature into a massive system of hydro-electric and geothermal power plants with dams and reservoirs. Clean energy brings in polluting industry and international corporations. It’s the dark side of green energy.
